It's again me, writing about a new experience as I continue to engage in the never-ending learning curve of internet presence. Here is what I learned this weekend; just like having money helps generate more money, ranking and authority just helps you further build upon its own.
Here is what I mean; the more search engine authority you build, the more you become an established entity in the presence of search engines, undoubtedly the easier it is to continue to build upon that establishment.
The example:
I have been working steadily and restessly on a Web site project for about 7 straight months. Creating articles, sitemaps, building content and getting links. The Web site today ranks 2 in Google. I recently saw an increase of Google crawls as well as inbound links granted by the mighty search thing itself. But note this, I created a Wordpress blog about two weeks ago, added postings as I went and was able to see some sporadic visitors as a result of tag browsing from other bloggers and blog readers. I then noticed that one of my posts on my blog happens to be ranking 4. WHAT???
Yes, my friends, it is Wordpress and its already established authority. Granted, no one can say for sure what Google thinks or the reasons behind its misterious algorithms, but the truth is that building authority is just like creating a name for your business; it takes time and lots of work. Once you have built a well known name you will then ease up through new business opportunities. It all works the same way.
The best thing of all is that I am seeing a sluggish but progressive growth on my website and I continue to work hard to snowball on that. It is happening, slowly but it is. The trick is surely the ability to stick to your Website as you would to your dream business. Those who stick to it are the ones who see the results. Just as I am seeing growth as I have put time and effort, as well as progressiveness, others have already seen this result and have built the desired authority.
You can see entities such as Wordpress and technoraty and you sure can see their success, but have never seen the effort behind it. This is the reason why so many fail while trying to rush into a "magical success" which just needs a few hours a week from the comfort of your how home.
It is work, it is not magic.
