Writing For Traffic - Content For Visitors

My style has always been writing about my experience as I can only be an expert of what I have seen and proven. This time I would like to tell you about the power of writing and how it translates into the perfect ammunition to shoot for targeted traffic.

The more I read and heard the phrase "content is king" the more I put in practice its context. As I write my way up to the traffic rank, I realize that there is really no way around this concept. You need to write, write and write if you want targeted traffic. Unless you want to blow an entire personal or corporate budjet paying for clicks.

Believe it or not, organizations and individuals who sell products and/or services, today rely much more and free targeted traffic than paid advertisement. Pay Per Click is becoming increasingly competitive and expensive and conversion usually does not translate if you don't (and here we go again, back to square one) "Write well". With that said, wether you are paying for traffic or not, the best way to convert your targeted traffic is by writing well.

Think about this, I recently worked on a copywriting service for a law firm in new york. The project involved creating several articles (which I outsourced of course) on the various practices of law the firm engaged in. We wrote ten atricles as well as ten press releases. We also wrote one page on the firm's website for each two article/press release copy produced. We did this to support and map to the incoming traffic the content was to hopefully generate. The articles were then integrated into an RSS feed using 2.0 and distributed these copies using PRWEB's cheapest service for RSS distribution.

Here is the result; not only we generated Google qualified inbound links, which increased the ranking of the firm's website, but we achieved an incredible traffic increase of 300 percent; my true and sincere reaction to this was just to say, a-ma-zing!!!

My personal experience while stay in "writing for traffic" mode, has been that exposure only comes with content. With that said, here is what I do for traffic, I'll suggest you do the same.

Writing for traffic:

  • I publish keyword focused (notice I say "Keyword Focused") articles at least twice a week
  • I blog with back links to support the article I created. My favorite is wordpress' Cutline template, which I customize to bring my RSS feed links as part of the navigation. Blogging get's me a few highly targeted visitors a day per article. Try it, it works!
  • Submit the article to the most popular social networks (Digg,Furl,Yahoo,Reddit etc..). This usually get my article discovered and indexed within a day or two. Not three weeks, a day or two.
  • Update my Google Sitemap, upload it back to my host and ping Google, Yahoo and ASK (I am not really interested in LIVE any longer)
  • If you want free RSS distribution service you can find a ton of RSS feed directories where you could submit for free, but I would recommend using PRWEB, you will be amazed.
The tools are there and you can use them. Whoever tells you that you don't need to spend money to build traffic is being unrealistic and deceiving. Of course, the goal is to invest the least possible and the cash spread around here and there is usually within anyone's budget, it really is, but it is not completely free. Generate content at the fastest rate you are able to and follow the steps above; overtime you will see amazing results.
